Modifying Funnels

A step-by-step guide on how to modify funnels in your dashboard

All funnels can be modified through two sections in your dashboard;

  1. List of Funnels, using the overflow menu placed at the right of each funnel
  2. Funnel Analysis, through the icons, placed next to the funnel's title

Here's a brief explanation of how you can access these sections:

List of Funnels

The first section shows up when Funnels is selected in your dashboard (highlighted in magenta). Using the options nested under a funnel's overflow menu, you can choose to Edit, Duplicate or Delete it, as shown below. (Detailed read on list of funnels)

  • On doing so, you will be directed back to the Funnel Analysis section and will receive a notification on the bottom right, confirming that the funnel has been updated.

Duplicate Funnel

This feature comes in handy when creating funnels to track variations of a predefined path. This variation is usually caused in places where the user can choose between performing two different actions at the same step. Let's demonstrate with an example.

👍

Use-case: Duplicating funnel for tracking checkout with a different payment options

Let’s consider a checkout flow where the user has an option of selecting two payment methods - Cash on Delivery and Online Payment. While the events performed by all the users will be the same, the event attributes for the step, Checkout - Payment Added will differ as follows;

Checkout funnel 1

Event: Checkout - Payment Added

Event attribute 1: Payment Method equal to Cash on Delivery

Variation in checkout funnel 2

Event: Checkout - Payment Added

Event attribute 2: Payment Method equal to Online Payment

Thus, we can simply create funnel 1 and duplicate it to the accommodate the variation in event attributes of the fifth step; Checkout - Payment Added. This way we will have the following funnels in half the time.

  • A notification confirming that the funnel has been duplicated will pop up on the bottom right.

  • The duplicated funnel's title will be in the following format: Copy of Original Funnel's Title.

You can now proceed with editing the duplicated funnels, as discussed under How to Edit a Funnel.
